WHAT IS A WRINKLY NECK?
Wrinkles around the neck can develop as horizontal bands that run around the neck, with a crepey like appearance combining with loose skin as a person gets older. This condition can affect anyone as they experience the effects of ageing skin, often giving away a person’s age when care has been taken to minimise ageing on the face.
WHAT CAUSES A WRINKLY NECK?
Just like the face, the neck is another area that is constantly exposed to the environment. Air pollution and UV rays from the sun contribute to the ageing process, increasing the rate at which it occurs. Everybody will experience ageing to one degree or another, with collagen and elastin decreasing from the skin’s structure at a natural rate of around 1 – 1.5% each year. As this happens the skin loses volume and its strength and buoyancy becomes compromised. This results in the development of wrinkles and sagging skin.
The positioning of the neck and the way it moves with the face, give the neck its characteristic long, horizontal creases.
HOW CAN IT BE TREATED?

When ageing around the neck starts to become a concern, treatments such as: profhilo, chemical peels, radio frequency skin tightening, dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle injections and laser skin resurfacing can help to tighten and firm the skin.
