Back Fat

Excess fat can appear anywhere on the face or body, including the back.

WHAT IS BACK FAT?

Back fat often develops as rolls that can sit around the mid-upper back or flanks. When back fat affects women, it can accumulate around the bra-line which often creates a bulge below this item of clothing. Back fat usually causes aesthetic concern to the affected person, as it can be noticeable under clothing.

WHAT CAUSES BACK FAT?

As with many types of fat, the cause of back fat is usually due to a buildup of excess fatty tissue beneath the skin, known as subcutaneous fat. Subcutaneous fat is the jiggly fat that is noticeable on the body, and for most people, is usually quite easy to get rid of when the right method of fat loss is used.

Excess fat most commonly develops from eating too many calories, especially when foods are high in fat and sugar. This provides the body an excess of energy which will be stored as fat if it is not used up, whether that’s from the natural functioning of the body or from a lack of movement. As we age, hormone levels can change and we naturally start to lower our daily activity levels. This can be a contributing factor to weight gain, or the development of excess fat.
