WHAT IS ARM FAT?
When raising the arms this can appear to hang down, and may wobble when moved around; a concern that many people refer to as ‘ bingo wings’. A person who is affected by arm fat can often feel self-conscious of its appearance. They may feel reluctant to wear short-sleeved or sleeveless clothing, and with long sleeves, they can often feel tight and don’t sit properly on the arms. People affected by arm fat often seek treatment with the aim of possessing arms that look more slender and toned.
WHAT CAUSES ARM FAT?
It is often due to a buildup of excess fatty tissue that causes the development of arm fat. Weight gain can affect various parts of the body, causing them to increase in size and shape. Gaining weight can result from an excess of calories or from eating the wrong types of foods (those that are high in sugar and saturated fat), which gets stored in the body when they are not used up. Arm fat can be a concern that affects many adults as they get older, when the skin starts to weaken and muscles start to tire. As a result the skin is less supportive of the underlying tissues which can then become loose and appear to sag in the same way as excess fat. In addition, natural fatty deposits can sit in a pocket of loose skin which also appears to hang when the arms are raised.
HOW CAN THIS BE TREATED?
The approach the Dr. Grace Kelly Aesthetic Skin takes will depend on the results of a thorough assessment, carried out at the consultation. EMSculpt can help to reduce body fat, as well as helping to strengthen and build muscle mass. This can give a more toned appearance to the upper arms, as well as making them look slimmer. However, if it is mainly the excess of fat that needs addressing, Aqualyx fat dissolving injections may be the right solution.
